Pay-by-text allows you to accept payments via SMS or mobile links. It also supports automated SMS and email reminders. After your users' payment details are stored, payments and invoices can be approved by a simple text message reply.
Pay-by-text can be utilised for subscription-type billing, where you can charge users on a regular basis daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, with a fixed or varying amount each time.

The following are typical workflows when pay-by-text is enabled on your platform.
For first-time users of pay-by-text, an SMS message directs them to our platform to set up their payments.
Ongoing or subsequent payments are streamlined. Often, a user only needs to reply “Yes” to an SMS to make a payment.
If a user has not provided a mobile number for subsequent payments, then pay-by-text sends payment reminders via email if email reminders are enabled on your platform. The procedure follows the workflow for initial payments.
Note: We strongly recommend that your users provide mobile numbers so that you can utilise the pay-by-text capability.
SMS and email reminders
When enabled, pay-by-text sends SMS and / or email reminders. If you want to configure SMS and / or email reminders on your platform, please contact us.
Initial payment reminders
Initial payment reminders are sent out after the first SMS payment instruction. These are sent out once on a 7-day period before the due date.
For example, a user can receive an initial payment reminder 21 days before the due date.
Payment due date reminders
Payment due date reminders are sent out after the initial payment reminder and before a payment is due.
These reminders are sent every 7-day period before the due date, as well as 4 days, 2 days, and a day before.
For example, a user can receive payment due date reminders 14 days, 7 days, 4 days, 2 days, and a day before the due date.
Payment due reminders
Payment due reminders are sent out on the day that a payment is due.
These reminders are sent on the day a payment is due.
Payment overdue reminders
Payment overdue reminders are sent out after a payment’s due date if the payment has not yet been made.
These reminders are sent daily for 7 days after a payment due date.
The following messages can occur when making a payment:
Invalid SMS response
The SMS response wasn’t as indicated on the payment instruction.
Invalid account details
The account details provided were incorrect or invalid.
The payment could not be made due to an expired card, insufficient funds, suspected fraudulent activity, or other restrictions placed by the issuing bank.
A payment is held when a transaction triggers our fraud rules. This payment undergoes manual review before being released or refunded.
